Tip of The Week
Save yourself from the sun. No matter which season of the year
is going on, the sun's rays are harmful whatsoever. The sun’s
UV rays are harmful to the human skin. They cause sun burn and
darkening. Ah, don’t we know that? What perhaps we need to know
about is the Synergie Sun Control Moisturiser with Mexoryl SX.
Its Photostable filtration is not broken down by the sun’s energy
and therefore maintains its protective qualities against UVA and
UVB rays. Patented worldwide, this is the only Photostable UVA
filter available in the world. You should avoid the midday sun
from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reapply lotion frequently whilst in the
sun, preferably after every two hours. Use a moisturiser with
UVA and UVB filters for daily protection, in any weather.
Brow Shaping
The brows are such an important part of the face, but are often
the subject of much confusion. The shape of your brow should follow
the natural line of your brow bone.
To determine the starting point, hold a pencil straight along
the side of your nostril. This indicates the starting point. To
determine the ending point, hold a pencil diagonally at the corner
of the eye. This indicates where your brow should end.
The arch should be highest at the outer corner of the pupil and
the brow should extend slightly beyond the eye (where it should
taper down).
Tweezing Tips
Use an eyebrow pencil or concealer (the Eye Light Pencil is great
for this) to mark your "perfect" brow and tweeze outside this
area.
Step back frequently to see how you're doing. Take a few hairs
from one brow, then from the other. (Remember--better too little,
than too much!)
Tweeze at least a half hour before applying make-up.
Tweezing after a shower or after steaming your face will make
it a bit easier.
Don't apply a moisturizer before tweezing (your tweezers can slip).
Don't tweeze nose hairs or hairs growing out of moles.
Invest in a decent pair of tweezers and treat them with care (if
they get "dinged" they may become dull and loose their ability
to grasp fine hairs).
How to Tweeze
Brush brows in the direction of hair growth.
Mark the area so you know what to tweeze and what to leave.
Tweeze one hair at a time, in the direction of the hair growth.
Pull gently, don't yank.
Pull a few hairs from one side, then the other and step back to
view the results.
Totally Lost?
Make an appointment at a reputable salon in your area and have
someone wax or tweeze your brows the first time. Then you can
maintain them with occasional visits to get "redone".
Defining Light Brows
Just because your brows are light doesn't mean they may not need
shaping. Remove excess hairs so you have a nice line, then use
Brush-on-Brows or the Brow-Shader Pencil to darken. Do one brow,
then the other--lightly--and step back to view the results. It's
easier to darken some more than it is to clean up if you make
a mess.
After your brows are "done," use the Brow Set to hold them in
place and to keep the brush-on-brows in place all day.
We recommend the brush on brows (invest in the full size brush--it
makes it easier to apply) because it gives a nicer, more natural
brow line (and it is relatively foolproof). If you prefer a pencil,
the Brow-Shader Pencil is a medium soft pencil (use the metal
sharpener to keep a fine line). Use short light strokes to define
brows.
